Public Service Awareness Campaign
for Trucking Firms

W & A Distribution Services, a Wisconsin trucking firm, is leading a national campaign to increase public awareness of Niemann-Pick Disease. Owners Steve Wiesmann and John Anderson approached the Foundation about the idea after learning about Stacey Vorpahl's fight with Niemann-Pick. Wiesmann and Anderson feel that the trucking industry can educate the public about this rare disease. "The trucking industry has the ability to reach a vast population. This is a tremendous opportunity...to make a real difference in the lives of the children and families" say the owners of W & A.

Nelson and Schmidt Marketing designed the message and artwork necessary for this project. The memorable ad includes the toll free number (1-877-CURE-NPC) to contact the Foundation and an easy-to-remember Internet address for the Foundation's website. In 1999, the five W & A trucks began traveling the country with the public service message. Since then, other companies have expressed interest in the campaign.

The Foundation is grateful to W & A Distribution Services and Nelson and Schmidt Marketing for their on going support.
